High Performance - Green Appraising

Since June 2008, the Appraisal Institute has expanded it registries of "green" appraisers.  There are more than 400 programs on green and energy-efficient valuation in this Valuation of Sustainable Buildings Professional Development Programs.

The online Sustainable Buildings Professional Development Program’s online registries list the residential and commercial appraisers that have have successfully completed the courses in the program and passed testing required to be placed on it.  The registries list the names of AI Designated members, Candidates for Designation, Practicing Affiliates, Affiliates and non-AI professionals who who have successfully completed the courses in the program.

Placement on the registries shows potential clients and employers that these individuals have obtained knowledge on this specialized topic. For appraisers to be included on the residential and commercial lists, they must pass all requirements  by the Appraisal Institute for the registry.  Britt J. Rosen is listed on both the residential and commercial registries.

The National Association of Home Builders encourages lenders to consider requiring the use of an appropriately qualified appraiser to value green properties, citing the Appraisal Institute as a solution for training on valuing green properties and in finding an appraiser who is qualified to understand its real market value.
